…  is an original painting on canvas of 2 birch trees, draped in snow, side-lit with pink sunlight. Blazing red sunset casts blue shadows across the snow blanket.

"Spring Melt, 2 Birches";  is part of a painting series I started a some 20 years ago and continue making today. These 48” x 36” vertical paintings were part of a broader theme I was exploring, of America and the west.   They were very personal paintings, about the American west, and the Mandan tribe, before the arrival of the whites.

This is a large picture that dominates a room with the power of a blazing multicolor sunset. The subject is seductive with its mix of the white trees in fading light, with a background of churning winter skies.  The pockets of snow are ready to drip the spring melt water.

An original oil, acrylic and pearlescent painting; varnished, on stretched canvas, 16” x 20”, wired and ready to hang.  Unframed.
