"Shelter From the Storm" is a painting that was inspired by scuba diving in Hawaii; the deep underwater caverns, rich with life, and color and exotic shapes astound the eye. Sharp, jagged cliff edges of collapsed lava tubes create a safe place for the smaller fish, so abundant in these kinds of places.
The idea here was to embrace the beauty of this world, but remember that it could all go away, in a flash of bright light.
"Shelter From the Storm": The title was a borrow from the Bob Dylan song of the same name. The incoming meteors are the faraway storms, which are getting closer and coming in fast. Meteors. Nukes. Our own seeming determination to fight endless wars. The sword of Damocles hangs over our neck, and we are seemingly oblivious.
We only have one vast, interconnected ocean, let’s not mess it up.
