"Fish Reef: Red Reflections"

from $30.00

"Fish Reef: Red Reflections" is a painting born of a lifelong love of watching the reflections in water. I drew underwater scenes as a child. Then I animated reflections and raindrops for a college project at the Kansas City Art Institute. (It was set to “Meddle” by Pink Floyd).

When computer animation was in its infancy, I animated water, fish, stars on an early prototype of something resembling Photoshop. (I’ve always lived in cities, and maybe all this focus on nature is born partially out of a desire to be elsewhere).

These banner fish, (and there are a few types) look similar to the Moorish Idols (of Pixar animation fame). They are so punchy, and they jump off the canvas, as they do when you’re looking at them under water. Some people call them butterfly fish. The black stripes are so dense, while the white stripes are all shades of white in iridescent patterns. Challenging!

Either way, this is an original painting. I have made others similar in theme, but this one can be yours. Please buy it, and make my day. Thank you for your consideration.

24×24” acrylic, pearlescent paint, oil. On stretched canvas, wired and ready to hang. Unframed.
