“Six Garibaldis, One Octopus”
This original acrylic and oil painting on canvas is part of my “Ocean” Series. In this one, Garibaldis play in the streaming light, around an octopus. This painting began as an attempt to have a pure white, unpainted patch of canvas representing the sun. The Garibaldis are a California fish, and are easily seen on Catalina Island, where they gather at the point, in the town of Avalon. Octopi and Garibaldis seem to ignore each other completely, with the exception of a little octopus side-eye.
