Harbor Seals frolic in streaming sunbeams, under a Striped Octopus. This painting started as a simple streak of blue shadows over lemon yellow sunlight. Harbor seals are exciting to paint, with all their spots and markings, their dark eyes, their pale bellies. They love to play in the kelp.
This painting was challenging; all the weaving around the through of the tentacles, in and under the Harbor Seals had to be visible, and pop, but not cluttered.
Protect the ocean, it’s the only one we got.
